3 Mindset Shifts To Get Out Of Your Own Way

Most of the time, the number one thing holding people back from the life they truly want to live is their mindset. Fear, perspective, attitude and so many other feelings and emotions are all entangled into one big ball that is blocking you from everything you’ve ever wanted. Sound familiar? Just typing that sentence hits close to home because that was me a few months ago.

I am still human and there are still things that I need to work on, but over the past few months, I have been focusing on my mental health, self love, but most of all my mindset. If i’m being completely honest here, I was that girl who let fear get in the way and it overwhelmed me to the core (anyone else?). Isn’t it funny how it works like that… we all have these dreams for ourselves, yet we are the ones who hold ourselves back the most?

When it comes to being WHO you are, growing a business online, starting or blog, or anything in life … we all have those negative thoughts in our heads. We are so quick to listen to them and letting our feelings influence  our choices in life, yet what we REALLY should be doing is kicking them to the curb because 1) they don’t pay rent and shouldn’t be taking up space in our minds and 2) life is too dang short for that nonsense! The way I think of it, a negative mind will never give you a positive life.

In this community, I believe we rise by lifting others, so today I want to share with you 3 mindset shifts that have not only helped me get out of my own way, but that can help YOU do so as well!

Change “What if I Fail?” to “What if I Succeed?”

I’m going to put my foot down here and say that this thought is probably the number one dream killer. Nothing keeps you from trying to reach your goals than thinking about the “what if’s,” and most of the time they are negative ones.

Instead of imagining what could go wrong, ask yourself what could go right! Start envisioning yourself in that role, living the life you want, and start showing up as that person! YOU are full of endless potential and it’s time we start giving ourselves a little more credit for what we are capable of!

Don’t let fear stop you from stepping into the life you’ve always wanted to live because if you do… that life will never become yours.

Change “I’m not good enough” to “I am more than enough”

I’ve had this thought pop in my head way too many times and i’m sure a lot of others can relate. As humans, we allow other outside factors such as the amount of followers we have on social media, what brand of t-shirt we are wearing, or even where we live define who we are. It’s so true when they say we are our worst critic. A lot of this is due to the society we live in, but at the end of the day we are still in control of how we view ourselves!

If we continue to beat ourselves up, we will never be able to rise to our fullest potential. One thing that has helped me tremendously over the past few months has been learning to love myself more. Every morning, I wake up and tell myself that I am good enough, I am more than enough, and I am doing enough (yes, I talk to myself in the mirror, but it WORKS)!

If there’s something you don’t know, have faith in yourself that you’ll figure it out. If you don’t have the fanciest camera, work with what you have or ask a friend to help you shoot. Every excuse you tell yourself always has a solution, you just have to choose to acknowledge it.

Change “I HAVE to do this” to “I GET to do this”

I think we can both agree that those days where we struggle to get out of bed and complain about having to get ready for the day happen all too often. That used to be me on the daily, but after adopting the mindset “I GET to wake up, I GET to get ready for work, I GET to work towards my dreams,” everything changed!

Now, I lead the life I live with a grateful heart and it’s allowed me to open up my perspective on everything that happens in life.

When it comes to getting out of your own way, mindset is everything. Our perspectives on life and every situation we are faced with shapes our future selves, so you have to ask yourself WHO do you want to be.

Go out there and be the best version of yourself! You got this!

Talk to you soon,
